Cris Anson's Romance with BDSM

I love to read BDSM novels. Love writing them, too. Heck, my first erotic romance contained BDSM elements before I ever heard of the term -- those ideas were strictly figments of my imagination.

Here’s the first sentence of DANCE OF THE SEVEN VEILS, http://www.ellorascave.com/dance-of-the-seven-veils.html which Ellora’s Cave published in January 2005 (it’s still available in digital and paperback formats):

And remember, if you see a naked man handcuffed to a ring in the ceiling, it’s because he wants to be there.

Because I didn’t know about dungeons, I set that story in a “sex club”. But in the intervening years, not only did I learn what the acronym stands for (bondage/discipline, Dominance/submission, sadism/masochism), I saw some of the things I had only imagined and described on paper.

Part of the credit for my education goes to world-renowned sexologist Dr. Charley Ferrer and her inaugural BDSM Writers Workshop Weekend in August 2012. Eight authors sat around the parlor of a hotel suite and listened to three days of discussion and learning, including a visit to the famous Paddles, http://paddlesnyc.com/the longest-running (since 1979) BDSM club in the world. Two years later, in 2014, I was knowledgeable enough to give two workshops for what by then had morphed http://bdsmwriterscon.com/workshops-2015 which will be held in New York City next August.
into a four-day series of workshops and demos by BDSM writers and practitioners. If you’re interested as either a writer or a reader, be sure to check out the 2015 BDSM Writers Con

My two latest books really take advantage of my hands-on research. My novella, AARON’S JEWEL,http://www.ellorascave.com/aaron-s-jewel.html features two 50-plus characters with real-life problems. He’s a long-time Dominant who’s just been downsized from his corporate attorney slot and she’s an editor who needs to do research for her upcoming assignment as well as worry about an aging mother. Don’t let their ages fool you; you’re never too old for this kind of stuff, as I can personally attest *huge grin*.

The other, REDEMPTION AND GLORY, http://www.ellorascave.com/redemption-and-glory-1.html is a full-length novel. It’s the third in my Passion and Punishment series. I had so much fun writing this book because I didn’t know until almost the end which of the main characters would wind up being the dominant (sort of like myself; I’m still not sure whether I’m a Top or a Bottom).

Here’s the blurb:

Bored with all the groupies who provide him with anonymous sex, famous sculptor Adam accepts the
offer to lurk behind a voyeur screen at his agent’s BDSM club. Watching the magnificent Mistress Glory in action, Adam is so smitten that he can’t decide if he wants to tame her or kneel before her.
When Davinia helps her business partner at a book signing, the man of her wet dreams—a magazine’s “Most Eligible Bachelor”—comes by to help publicize the event. Instant lust turns to chagrin when he addresses her as Mistress Glory.

As the two novices to Dominance and submission explore what turns them on in this exciting new world, the journey takes explosive twists and turns. Add the sexy agent and his slave and anything can—and does—happen.

Inside Scoop: Contains a steamy ménage with both m/m and f/f action and lots of dungeon activity resulting in one scorching-hot story.

The three books in the Passion and Punishment http://www.ellorascave.com/series/passion-and-punishment-1.html series are, in order:

Punishment and Mercy
Mercy and Redemption
Redemption and Glory

By the way, my most-often-read blog is “Getting Naked at Paddles,” a recounting of my experience during that first BDSM Writers Weekend. http://crisansonspassions.blogspot.com/2012/10/getting-naked-at-paddles-bdsm-part-iv.html
