Want to Laugh? Read The Romantical Groom (#RegencyRomance #satire #free)

One of my first fiction pieces worth reading was The Romantical Groom. I wrote it for a creative writing class I took in early 1997, while I was still practicing law and dreaming of another career to rescue me from the day-to-day drudgery and outright negativism of working as a trial attorney.

The Romantical Groom was my first fiction publication--American River College published it in their award-winning annnual literary magazine.

I've always loved Regency romance. Even before I started to read romance with a view toward becoming a romance novelist, I devoured everything Georgette Heyer wrote.

But one must admit that the genre is quite mockable.

Hope this excerpt tickles your funny bone! If it does, it's available for free via Kindle Unlimited here:http://tinyurl.com/ndljd49

George serenely rode on, accompanied by his father and a groom. As befitted a gentleboy, he was securely mounted on his sweet old gelding, Muffin. He rode side-saddle, his skirts gracefully arrayed around him; gentleboys ride side-saddle to protect their tender parts from the chafing of the leathern seat.

He was eighteen years old and perfect, from the top of his guinea-gold curls to the bottom of his superbly fitted boots. The zephyr blue of his graceful, skirted riding habit complemented his celestial eyes. The low-cut jacket accentuated without revealing his lovely form.

Marlene turned to d'Arvon. "Caro, introduce me to the laddie," she wheedled.

"'Tis naught to me, Marlene, but you might wish to wait until you are not so rough from riding," she pointed out. "The gentleboy might want grace and deportment…in short, a dandy."

Maybegood snorted.

A Snog for Sommer (#erotica #free @sommermarsden @victoriablisse)

Here at The Velvet Lair we keep tabs on our friends--even our friends' friends! Sommer Marsden, friend of friend Victoria Blisse, is apparently having a bit of a bad time with family illnesses and so on. So the lovely, kind Vicky Blisse is devoting her Sunday Snog blog for 14 Sept to Sommer...so the following is a snog for Sommer (even though I rarely snog girls).

You can help Sommer out by checking out her blog and maybe buying one of her books:
http://sommermarsden.blogspot.co.uk/

And here's a summer snog for Sommer, from Seducing the Hermit:

Valerie saw the unmistakable signs of male need. A flaring of the nostrils. A heated narrowing of Fisher's eyes. She smelled his masculine aroma, an intriguing mixture of sky and forest, with the biting tang of the sea caught in his long, sexy hair.

Yes. The first touch of his firm lips against hers ignited her blood. She turned on as if he’d flicked a switch, and suddenly she felt alive, the way she always felt when she made love. This was the feeling she craved. This was what she lived for. When she touched a beautiful man, it was as though her world morphed from black and white into color. God, she needed this, needed him.

She opened her mouth to let him in. His lips trembled ever-so-slightly against hers and she thought, Hmmm…but whatever conclusions she could have reached got lost when Fisher thrust his tongue into her mouth. One, two, three, four times, deep and hard, the way she liked it, communicating clearly what he wanted, a long, deep, hard fuck.

A Stable #Spanking from Suz deMello (@MFRW_ORG #SatSpanks #BDSM #erotica)

Confining my blog post to only eight spanky sentences has always been a challenge, but I don't dare break the rules--I might be in line for punishment too!

Today's spanky snippet is from The Wilder Brother, a romantic comedy. Here's what the book is about:

For Colton Wilder, the invitation to his brother’s wedding is an invitation to trouble because Colt, having boinked the bride, knows what she’s really like. He doesn’t want his brother Max marrying selfish, manipulative Nicole Newcombe, a famous supermodel. In his view, Nicole stole the groom from her sister Dana.

For staid scientist Dana Newcombe, the invitation to her identical twin’s wedding is an invitation to humiliation. While Nicole was conniving to steal Max away from Dana, Dana had wild monkey sex in a glass-walled elevator with his brother Colt.

When they meet again at the wedding, she doesn’t want to want Colt, but she can’t help remembering and re-enacting their earlier sexy tryst in oh, so many different ways.

In this excerpt, Nicole has been a very bad girl indeed, and she's getting what she deserves in the horse barn of the Wilder Brothers' farm. Her sister
Dana is watching, and the scene is written from her perspective:

Openmouthed, she watched as Max raised the quirt and swished it down over Nick’s butt. It landed with a decisive rap.

Dana gasped, desire snapping through her. No, she thought, this can’t be!

Nick moaned and writhed, but didn’t scream no, didn’t get up, didn’t run away. Clearly, this was what she wanted.

Max lashed her again and again, with Nickie’s body jerking with each strike. She lifted her rear up and down, groaning his name, begging, “Oh, Max, oh, Max.”

Late Summer Lovin' with The Wilder Brother by Suz deMello (@MySexySaturday @MFRW_ORG #erotica #romance)

TPTB at My Sexy Saturday have asked us to give you a sexy summertime blog...the last gasp of the season before autumn sets in. Though I live in California, where people think summer is eternal, we in NoCal have four seasons and love them. Leaves are already turning in my neighborhood, though the crisp
leaves are turning
in the 'hood
nip of fall is not yet in the air--temperatures here are still in the 90s.

So here's a snippet from The Wilder Brother celebrating summer lovin'.

The book, which is in both digital and print, is about two sexy brothers and their fun times with two gorgeous identical twin sisters.

And here's the excerpt:

The flagstone walkway wound through the kitchen garden and out to the lawns. Moonlit and luminescent, white roses glowed in the back of the yard near the guest house. Colt sniffed the subtle fragrance of the flowers and herbs borne on the light breeze.

He laced his fingers through Dana’s, then lifted their intertwined hands to kiss
her knuckles. The moonlight gently lit her delicate features. He stroked her face, outlining her full lips as she smiled at him.

He replaced his finger with his mouth.

This time, she didn’t pull away. He closed his eyes to explore her with his tongue, giving her a soul-searching kiss that left her trembling delightfully in his arms. Her vulnerability excited him, aroused him all the more. Her fingers, still twined with his, clenched when he found one stiff nipple and flicked the sensitive point. She moaned deep in her throat as he cradled her breast. Heavy and full in his hand, it seemed to swell as her sensuous purring increased in pitch.

So hard that he’d burst out of his pants in just a few more seconds, Colt pulled away, perhaps too abruptly. Dana opened her eyes with a dazed, startled look.

He touched her face. “You’re wonderful.” A few yards away, the swimming pool shimmered, its underwater light flickering through the turquoise water. A vision of Dana’s naked breasts, slick with water and glistening in the moonlight, darted through his mind. “I think we both need to cool off. Wanna swim?”

“What a great idea. I’ll meet you out there in five minutes.”

Promo, Personal Appearances and All That Stuff (#MFRWAuthor @centrsexculture @fetlife @BDSMtweets)

I don't often make personal appearances, which in my line of work are readings, lectures, booksignings and the like. I used to before the internet took over the world and relegated personal appearances into second place behind internet marketing, which in my mind is really more efficient. I can reach more people with the touch of a button than I can by giving ten thousand readings, especially since few people show up to them. I've attended booksignings with not one but two best-selling authors who had hit the NYT list, and was shocked by the few customers they attracted. Humiliating to give a party when no one attends.

So I was surprised at my own enthusiasm for appearing in San Francisco at the Center for Sex and Culture to give a reading--that event will take place next Saturday evening, August 30 at 7 pm. I'll be there along with several other well-published erotica authors. And not only am I enthusiastic about it--I essentially created the event along with M. Christian, another author I "met" online. Chris lives in SF and has been a part of the scene there for quite a while, and get us set up at the CSC. He has confidently predicted that 30-50 folks will show up, each ponying up $10 for the privilege of hearing me and others read our work. Maybe they'll buy a book or two. Who knows?

Anyhow--I'm beset by doubt, to say nothing of the question of what readings to give and what to wear--damn important in my mind.

I'll probably read from the books I'll be flogging. I have copies of a couple of print books to sell--The Wilder Brother and Seducing the Hermit. Both are erotic, of course, but are basically romantic comedy. I'll be raffling off a print copy of Desire in Tartan as well.

Here's a snippet from Desire in Tartan to pique your interest in the event:

“Now,” he said, breaths harsh. “Are ye ready for me, mistress?”

She gave a little nod, but stopped, aware that he couldn’t see her in the darkness. But p’raps he had seen, for he used one deft hand to part her thighs and push his rod deeply into her."

Aaahhhh…” His groan and hers harmonized as his shaft forced its way past tight muscles and he was again parting her, opening her, creating a special space for him to nest.

The mingled pain and pleasure undid her, and she cried out.

He went instantly still, though he didn’t withdraw. “Mistress?”

She sought to slow her frantic pants, and he waited until her breaths had evened. “It’s…I’m all right,” she managed to say.

He bent his head to kiss her again with great gentleness. She entwined her fingers into his hair, his glorious mane of wild, black hair, reveling in the smooth slide and feel of it across her palm as they kissed.

He started to move inside her, a slight thrust and wiggle that was about all she could take. Through the haze of pleasure clouding her mind she wondered how he could know exactly what she needed, how he could divine her feelings so truly.

If you can't make it to the reading, get the book here:

And here's the 4-1-1 about the event:

Confidence is Sexy and Colton Wilder Has Got the Goods (@MySexySaturday #MFRWAuthor @MFRW_ORG #kink)

In this week's Sexy Saturday, our demanding Mistress has asked us to "share with us your characters who know they’re sexy." And out of seventeen books and many short stories, few of the characters I've written are more confident as Colton Wilder.

Can you imagine the balls it takes to stroll into a woman's bedroom at night absent an invitation?

Here's part of what happened:

Available in both print and digital formats

About to turn onto her side and go to sleep, Dana became aware of a dark presence in her room. Squinting without her glasses, she could see only a dim silhouette backlit by the slight illumination cast by the few lights on outside.

Oh dear God. Her heart chilled. The specter of kidnapping for ransom haunted all wealthy Americans, but her father was very careful. She knew she’d taken a risk by keeping her window open, but who could have gotten past the security fence? Tense in her bed, she prepared to make a break for the door.

The intruder cleared his throat. “Dana?”'

“Colt, you moron, what are you doing here? I was about to get a gun, blow you away and phone 9-1-1 later.” Relief made her crabby. She flopped back against her pillows.

He chuckled, a deep, rich sound in the darkness. “I didn’t know you packed a piece. Guess I’d better stay on your good side.” The bed creaked as he sat down, apparently making himself at home.

“What are you doing here?” she asked again, reminding herself that she didn’t want her emotions to get out of hand. She had no intention of getting a broken heart from someone who seemed to have the morals of a jackrabbit and the roving habits of a migratory bird.

“I felt cheated.” He shifted his weight, moving closer. “I kinda expected our evening to go on a while longer.”

Of course, the scene doesn't end there. This encounter goes on, and on, and on...

Here's what The Wilder Brother, contemporary erotic comedy, is about:

When they meet again at the wedding, she doesn’t want to want Colt, but she can’t help remembering and re-enacting their earlier sexy tryst in oh-so-many different ways.

Here's where you can read another snippet and score a copy. The Wilder Brother is available in both print and digital formats.
